Presidio Filmmaker Office

Completed, 2010

For one of our first projects, we were commissioned to make an office for a documentary filmmaker.  After spending a couple of weeks observing how he used the space, it became clear that the office was as much a storage facility for his film equipment as it was a video-editing office.  We came up with a furniture system that prioritized efficient storage of gear within the space and easy transfer or gear to the film truck.  Because the filmmaker was design-oriented and wanted the space to reflect him, we chose to use “apple boxes,” a standard material on film sets, to make the furniture. ( Note: all photos of the completed space by the filmmaker himself, Lincoln Else)

Project Size: 250 square feet / 1 - 3 users; Our Role: Architect & Product Designer
