Hooper Creative Campus

Concept Design, 2016

Creativity is a quality of every company that seeks to prosper in our networked economy, and companies want to know that an investment in their work environment will help them to maintain this critical creative edge.  With this in mind, Kilroy Realty brought our studio on board as it set out to develop a new campus in an up and coming creative urban district.  They knew that to get the most value out of their investment in the campus, it would need to appeal to tenant companies who cared a great deal about the kind of culture that they could create in the space.

While it was new construction, our scope was similar to an adaptive reuse project.  Kilroy already had an architect to deliver the core and shell project, but they needed a partner to think through the strategic interventions that would attract the top tech companies. The resulting Hooper Creative Campus combines office space and maker space in a large, flexible footprint across two connected buildings.  With flexible mechanical, electrical and circulation systems, and connective bridges, the campus allows its tenant companies to adjust their real estate use to match their evolving business needs whether they are a mature company or in a growth stage.  A custom rooftop amenity for social, fitness and sustainability and a street level presence to showcase new products and offerings contribute to tenant culture.

Adobe became the key tenant of this new campus, which is now a central hub in a dynamic new part of town.
